BEC Alumni Evolved Foods Secures Deal to Supply Wagamama’s Nationwide
Evolved Foods, a food business specialising in freeze-dried fruit ingredients and snacks, is thrilled to announce a partnership with Wagamama, the beloved Asian-inspired restaurant chain. Evolved Foods has been selected as a supplier to 152 Wagamama restaurants nationwide, marking a significant milestone in Evolved’s mission in reducing the 4.5 million tonnes of fruit wasted in the UK every year. This collaboration will help Wagamama’s to satisfy the growing demand for healthier and more sustainable dining choices.
It follows other significant client wins for Evolved Foods which have included supplying catering operations within headquarters of well known brands including Google & Gymshark.
“We are excited and honoured to join hands with Wagamama, an iconic brand known for its commitment to freshness, flavour, and authenticity,” said Dom Kristy, Founder of Evolved Foods. “This partnership is a testament to our dedication to crafting high quality products that cater to diverse tastes while making a positive impact on the environment.”
The past 12 months have been good for Evolved with not only winning new clients but also with their levels of innovation within their products seeing industry recognition. In 2022, Dom Kristy was awarded the Young Innovator of the Year Award at the Innovation Awards 2022. Just the night before the Innovation Awards, Dom had also picked up the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Epic Awards 2022.

The story so far
Evolved’s origins begin whilst Dom was studying Nutrition at the University of Plymouth (graduating in 2017), where he originally launched ‘Evolved Snacks’ (first branded as Instinct Bites’‘, which was originally a brand of freeze dried fruit snacks to provide a way for people to enjoy healthy snacking in a sustainable way. However, overtime, Dom could see wider uses for the same freeze drying technique used to create the fruit snacks so expanded the business to become ‘Evolved Foods’ which now produces a range of products and ingredients using freeze drying that provide ways for a range of clients across the food & drink industry to cut down on food wastage.

Evolved joined the BEC family in early 2020 when it was chosen to join the second cohort of the FORWARD Accelerator programme – through which Dom and Evolved were provided with a range of business support including mentoring, coaching, workspace, strategic guidance, networking opportunities and more.
“I can still remember the first time I met Dom when he came in for his FORWARD interview,” said BEC Chief Executive Daniel Evans. “We were so impressed with what Dom had created and knew that it was a business we really wanted to get behind and support. Since then we’ve always kept a close relationship with Dom and are proud of what he has gone on to do since – which has mainly been as a result of his hard work, dedication and passion”.
